Realistic Figure Drawing Workshop with Isaac Pelepko

This workshop is designed to communicate helpful tools and methods to create a believable 3D illusion of a human figure on a 2D surface in graphite.

The workshop is only 4 hours long so it will be packed with as much information as possible that Isaac has learned over the past 15 years through his own practice.

The student will draw from a live model and I will demonstrate directly on the students’ individual drawings. The goal of the class is not for the students to have a finished portfolio piece of work but to absorb some skills and tools that will be helpful for further work in realistic figure drawing.

The class will start with a brief intro to the methods being taught followed by short poses and building to a 2 hour pose to finish the workshop.

Concepts covered:
Shape drawing thinking in flat patterns, the envelope method, straight line drawing, using plum lines and level lines, line of action, blocking in center line
Rhythm drawing, lone lines, contrapposto, riley lines, head to rib cage to pelvis relationship
Structural drawing, thinking in 3D forms, center line
