What is Re:Create?
Re:Create Arts Initiative is a creative reuse center that collects donations of art & craft supplies from the community, then organizes and offers them for sale. This type of store has an impact on many segments of the community: It offers a low-cost option for supplies for artists, crafters, teachers, parents and non-profit organizations and promotes environmental awareness and recycling, as well as an outlet for individuals and businesses to discard their unwanted materials in a useful way.
Through sales at the reuse store, income is generated to provide arts events including intimate concerts, classes, poetry readings, lectures, film showings, gallery space, open guided craft room and other mentoring and outreach programs.
Founder and Owner of Re:Create
Local artist Jandi Goshert of Lebanon, PA, has always been passionate in helping the promotion of the arts and creativity in her hometown. A graduate of Pennsylvania Collage of Art and Design, Jandi is a professional printmaker and mixed-media artist with a background in the Fine Art and Arts Management field. She has worked as the Operations Manager of Long's Park Amphitheater Foundation in Lancaster, PA, and was instrumental in the planning and production of the Long's Park Art and Craft Festival and the Free Summer Music Series from 1999 - 2004. Jandi has also been teaching print-making techniques at several Lancaster County venues, including her alma mater. Before the founding of Re:Create Arts Initiative, she was employed as the Manager and Gallery Consultant at the Lebanon Picture Frame and Fine Art Gallery, overseeing the promotion of its monthly gallery shows. In May 2013, as Jandi felt the need to be more active in the local arts community, she founded the Lebanon Sketch Club, which provided local artists with a monthly networking opportunity and to work from a live model. The experience has proven to be a great success and solidified her belief that there are many Lebanon County area artists looking to connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts.
